Welcome!

Welcome to the Complacency Challenge! Follow us to see how God is challenging complacency in our lives and JOIN the conversation to share how He is challenging complacency in YOURS!

Meet Mary (here) and Heidi (here).

It is our goal to learn something about God (His love, plan, promises, word, etc) everyday! We are challenging each other to share some of those lessons with each other and with you.

We challenge YOU to learn something about God (His love, plan, promises, word, etc) everyday! We challenge you to share some of those lessons with us here as well.

Will you take this journey with us?

Maybe you are doing your own study this fall. Maybe you are reading a great book (better yet, THEE Book!). Maybe you are just living life and learning some great lessons along the way. We'd love to hear what God is doing in your life to challenge complacency!

  1. Hello Rusty here. I am married to the beautiful, marvelous, and intelligent Heidi...co-creator of this blog. I am looking to take my relationship with God the next level. I have really started to develop my faith in the past few months and hope I can learn even more from my VERY intelligent wife and Mary. Oh Mary, you better get Jon on here so I'm not the only male. Peace.

  2. Hi, my name is Ang. I am married to one of Rusty's pretty studly friends and have 2 little boys that keep me on my toes. I will be involved in 2 different studies this year. The first is Bible Study Fellowship where I will be meeting Jesus face to face in the study of the Gospel of John. I have the privelage to be a discussion leader for one of the groups and I am looking forward to learning more about Jesus and myself through this study. Growing closer to Christ while stretching my comfort zone. The next study is from the Women of Faith Series called Overcoming Fear. I'm excited to see what God has in store for me through this study and pray that I can be an encouragement to the other ladies in my group. God has helped me overcome many of my fears throughout the past few years and I know He can do the same thing for anyone that asks Him. Basically, I love Jesus, and want to share His love with others through my simple, ordinary, life. What is God doing in your life??

  3. Hey! My name is Mardi. I am married to a fantastic man (Damian) and I have two awesome little boys (Trendan, 4 and Matai, 2). I work beside Damian in ministry. He is the Youth Pastor at the Madrid E Free Church. This school year we are going through the Bible with our students. Obviously we aren't doing the WHOLE Bible, but we are highlighting sections from Genesis to Revelation. On Sunday nights we will have a lesson on a section and then on Wednesday nights we will dive deeper into that same section in our small groups. I lead the junior high girls each week. I am really excited to see what God has in store for us as we pray, encourage, hold each other accountable, and learn more about God together!

I am also involved in another study where we are using the book "Having a Mary Spirit" by Joanna Weaver. I am going through this book with two other women and we have really been able to learn a lot about what it takes to be a woman of God.

Personally, I have been doing some studying on what God says about patience. Mine has been running a little thin lately and if I am going to strive to live like Christ then I need do some work in that area...serious work!

I love Jesus and I want others to love Him, too. He is my ROCK!

  4. Mardi, it's nice to "meet" you! I am looking forward to being in conversation with you and can't wait to hear what you learn from the young women that you are leading through the Bible!

Rusty, I told Jon he needs to hop on the blog and comment so that you are not the only male. We'll see, if we changed the URL to http://www.cyclonereport.com we'd probably be in luck!

  5. Hello, my name is Shawna. I live in Saxton, Pa. I met Heidi in 2002 at Camp Ramapo and have kept in contact with her over the years.
I live with my husband, Ben, and a very active 2 year old, Luca.
I do not belong to any studies right now and have in fact been hoping something like this would fall in my lap. I hope to grow and learn by participating in this group.

  6. Hey, this is Damian. You are not the only guy on here now Rusty. Others on this site know me as Chuck, too. I am married to the beautiful Mardi and have two psychos we call little boys. Trendan and Matai are too much like their father and can't sit still or be calm. I am the Youth Pastor at the Madrid E Free Church. This post is really very similar to what God has been laying on my heart recently. I believe it is so easy for us as Christ-followers to be okay with being just okay. Christ has called us to a full, abundant life, not just following a bunch of rules. He wants a relationship with us that takes over our whole life and that passion creates a compassion for those around us.
"Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." - Matthew 5:16

  8. Hi! My name is Christa, and I am a friend of the amazing Heidi! I have known Heidi since 2002 (and Shawna as well). We met at a summer camp that we worked at and have remained close and kept in touch over the years. I just recently got married to a wonderful man named Glen.
This fall, I am currently involved in a home-group study, Forgiveness: Breaking the Power of the Past. From there, we will move on to a Beth Moore study, Breaking Free. I am excited to delve into the word of God, learn, share, grow with all of you and to see what He has in store for me.

  9. Hello! Pamela, Mary's older sister, here. Participating in these online studies in lieu of our church's face-to-face Monday classes, which don't fit into my schedule. And that's the number one challenge - finding enough quality time to spend in God's word!

  10. Hi, my name is Tami. I am dating a wonderful man, Heidi's father-in-law Kevin! I've been so fortunate to get to know Heidi and Rusty. I am so impressed with their honesty, integrity, love for each other and obvious love for God.

I was raised in church and attended a Baptist high school and college. For years, I lived under the oppression of legalism. It's only been in the last 6 years that I've finally learned and embranced living under grace.

I'm at a standstill currently in my personal life and not actively involved in a church. I'm looking forward to seeing what God has for my future. Thanks for allowing me to join!

    Tami

  11. Hi! My name is Tabitha, Iwent to high school with Heidi.I am a new mother to twin girls and have not been able to attend church because the doctors have told us to keep the girls out of the public for awhile. I deeply miss church and God and I hope to grow closer to him and deeper in faith through this blog. After all of these years I am finally learning to "let go and let God" this year he has shown me all of the miracles he is capable of. Thank you Heidi for inviting me! I am very thankful!
